Nominations for the Lou Gregory Award

The Pensacola Runners Association is now accepting nominations for the Lou Gregory Award. This is the most prestigious award we give out, and nominees should be considered carefully.   We present the award every year at the Fiesta Run.
The Lou Gregory award is given annually to a local runner who has demonstrated great leadership and enthusiasm in helping to promote and maintain the sport of running in the Pensacola community. The award could also be made to a worthy couple.
Lou Gregory is Pensacola's most famous runner. He placed 10th in the 1932 Olympics 10K and was a runner up in the 1941 Boston Marathon. Many of his National and World Records in his age group still stand after so many years. He also won hundreds of local races. One such record was his completion time of 45:08 during the Fiesta of Five Flags at age 75.
If you have a nomination, send a letter telling of your candidate's accomplishments to the Lou Gregory Award, P.O. Box 10613, Pensacola, FL 32524.
The nominations will be voted on by secret ballot at the April Board meeting by board members and previous Lou Gregory Award winners who are still members of the PRA. Only the PRA president will know the identity of the winner, which will remain a secret until the awards ceremony at the Fiesta Run. Please get your nominations in by April 12.
